Terminology explained

Bonded Medical Program information

The Bonded Medical Program provides students a Commonwealth supported medical place at an Australian university in return for a commitment to work in regional, rural and remote areas for a specified period. Information regarding the program can be found at the Department of Health website.

Applicants who accept a BMP offer will be contacted further by the Department of Health in January/February 2024.

Offer location

Griffith University’s Doctor of Medicine program is taught at both the Gold Coast campus and the teaching location at the Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI) located within the Sunshine Coast University Hospital at Birtinya, Queensland. The MD Program at the Sunshine Coast is the same medical program offered on the Gold Coast campus and your offer is specific to the location indicated in your offer letter.

In extenuating/unforeseen circumstances, a transfer from one location to the other may be considered. Requests should outline your circumstances and include medical evidence if necessary. Requests should be sent to medicine@griffith.edu.au by 5 pm Friday 10 November. Late requests will not be accepted. You should not delay accepting your offer while making a request. Offers not accepted on time will be lapsed and given to other applicants.

Under no circumstances should you attempt to negotiate a swap between campuses with another student. If this occurs, your transfer request will not be considered at all.

Be prepared for professional practice

Information on immunisations, licences and certificates you will require can be found at Fit for Professional Practice.
